• In capital markets, weaker economic data in the US fuelled a slowdown of concerns, which resulted in a shift in investor focus away from inflation data and towards growth data. And we saw the Bank of England and the US Federal Reserve announce interest rate cuts.
• In asset class performance, concerns over global growth, and the prospect of more interest rate cuts, meant it was a positive quarter for bond markets. In terms of equities, more defensive sectors tended to do best, while more cyclical sectors underperformed.
